Brittle, weak nails
Well, some people can recognize themselves in this; you'd like to have long nails but they break all the time. I tried a few things like Formaldehyde Nail polish. I think that isn't really healthy for your nails and it takes long to work. By an accident some lip balm dropped on my nails, i rubbed it on my nails and it started to work. Burt's bees did actually work. But:
- Do this as much as you can
- Don't use it over your nail polish, it wont help. Always use it on plain nails!
- Nail polish slowly 'destroys' your nails and sometimes it's good to take a break from using it.
- Use a big layer and let it dry :)
I hope this will help you!
Allesandro Striplac review
It has been a while ago since my last post, but here I am again! Today, with a gel set from Allesandro's Striplac. If you already have an uv-lamp, you only have to buy 2 polishes: the twin top & base coat and a color. I saw those 2 for only €8,00. A color bottle of this gel polish normally costs 14 euro(!) I am happy I bought this. I was so done with gel nails because they fell off after a day. This is already holding more than a week. If you got curious; this is how you do it:
ESSENCE GEL NAILS AT HOME
The Essence gel Nails at home coats
I bought those 2 weeks ago. I've forgotten to buy the peel off base coat, so my gel nails wouldn't last long. Once I applied it with the base coat, it is holding since saturday. I already had a UV (or LED) lamp, so I didn't had to buy that. It does work with mine, so if you want to buy them too, and you have a LED/UV, you can always try.
The nail file and hand & nail cream
Another useless product. You don't need the file and the hand cream. And hand cream is oily, so why do they even sell it if your nails have to be oil free? I don't get this, but I haven't bought it.
And now the file. I (and you) wouldn't need that, you can use a normal nail file too.
The primer and cleanser
I personally think you don't need the cleanser, you can also use nailpolish remover without acetone. The primer smells like nail polish remover. I'm not sure if it really is remover, but i think it is. Actually, its made to remove oil from your nails. And so is nail polish remover.
But what do I need to get gel nails?
Here is a list of important things:
This is a cheap gel manicure. It is easy to do, and holds for 3-6 days at regular nails. On my brittle nails it only holds one day (!) You can combinate it with every color you like, and thats why this could be such a succes. You don't have to buy expensive gel colors. The disadvantage is that my nails are damaged when I peel them off. Thin sheetlets are on my nails and it is quite painful. But when I file my nails with a 4 step file, its almost normal again. After all, I think it is a good and cheap product for starters and it is easy in use. Essence nail polish is a good buy!!!
Some new polishes I bought:
Sally Hansen Diamond Strenght®
I bought this one (for €2!!!) with a transparent color with blue and purple shine, called 'Crystal Beading' I really like this one, and I love to combinate it with my other Essie polisher, especially 'Splash of Grenadine' , and 'The lace is on' It looks cute, and I think an Essie color is a perfect match with a Sally Hansen special effect coat. Sally Hansen says that this polish contains small pieces of diamonds... I don't really know if I have to believe that, but that doesn't keep me from using it.
Another unknown Sally Hansen polish
I don't know the name actually... but I also bought this for €2,-. I wanted to polish my nails right afrer I bought it, but when I opened the bottle, there wasn't a brush inside, so, I cleaned up another bottle and poured it in the empty bottle. If you'd like to buy this, you'd better check if there is a brush inside. But, the polish is really good. It dries really fast and holds for 3-5 days.
NEW ESSIE COLLECTION: SHEARLING DARLING
I found this one a few minutes ago. Its part of the 'shearling darling' collection. 'Parka Perfect' (on the left) is a soft grey/ mint color. Its perfect for in the winter, so are the other parts of this collection. You can see all of them below. I haven't tried it yet, but I'd love to! I think its a very good choice from Essie to try this colors.
Sally Hansen Salon Effects
Sally makes it easy to get a salon effect any time, any place. It wears like nail polish because it IS nail polish. No dry time, so you’re ready to go. I haven't tried this yet, but I'd like to! I don't have much expierience with Sally Hansen. You can find more designs here.
Essie's 'For the Twill of it'
Essie announced a new line for the fall. I love the colors they have chosen, because it looks so basic, but still glamorous! I fell in love with the collection 'For the Twill of it', but the named posish looks similair to OPI's Peace & Love. But after all, I still LOVE this collection and I'd like to buy some! Check them out now
Sally Hansen Sugar Coat
This is a nailpolish with sand (I think) in it. It looks like sugar and that's why I like it so much. It looks so cute! If i could choose, I'd take the pink one, but for the fall, I think it would be the mint or red one. I've found cheap polishes on amazon. They are much cheaper than in the stores. (in Holland)
